Discouraged? Overwhelmed?Do you ever feel overwhelmed with unfinished tasks?  Or have dreams and goals still unmet?  Are you putting it off until… and not sure when that’s going to be?

Sounds like procrastination – putting off until tomorrow the things you already put off until today.

There is hope!

TimeWe all have the same 24 hours in a day.  Since many people have accomplished a lot with their 24 hours, there must be a way to get more out of your day!  There IS a strategy to follow.

Managing your day and what needs to be done is a learned skill.  If you’re off course, a simple one degree correction could make all the difference.  The process depends on your willingness to make those corrections; in the process, you become the person who masters time.

Procrastination is not heriditary!   It's learned just as much as a successful life of time mastery is learned. (No, successful people are not successful by accident!)  You simply can't accomplish tomorrow's dreams with yesterday's skills.  The successful people you admire got there through their own personal growth as well.

The secret is hidden in your daily routine.  Wasting time wastes life.  Mastering time brings mastery to your life.  It's as simple as taking the next small step.  Lay aside feelings of shame or condemnation and decide to move forward.  Today IS the first day of the rest of your life

The formula? Think  + Be + Do = Have

Think Think bigger!   The bigger you think, the more you can accomplish in the same 24 hours we all have.  Big things happen for people who think big!   Decide to become more, to master your time, to reap the benefits of joy and accomplishment!

Be willing.  Decide what you really want, and if you're willing to work for it.  Sometimes to begin with, we just need to be willing to be willing.  That’s a little step that leads to the decision to “do what needs to be done.”   This step is easy to skip, but skipping it leads to poor results and more procrastination.

If necessary, change your mind about the word "discipline."  It's not punishment.  Self discipline is the foundation of mastery, but begins with thinking that you want to accomplish a certain thing.  You can change Surround yourself with positive supportive friendsyour mind like you change shoes.  You do it instinctively.  With change and growth, however, it must start on purpose - consciously - and maybe a little clumsy at first.  That’s okay.  It’s the first steps, just like a baby learning to walk. They fall, but they get back up and try it again.  If you need to pad the part you fall on, surround yourself with positive, encouraging people.  And get back up.

"The man with the capacity for self-discipline can tell himself to do the truly important things first.  Therefore if there is not enough time to go around and something ,must be neglected, it will be the make wise use of timeless essential task."  Ray Kroc, founder of McDonalds.

Choose to apply yourself to learn whatever you need to learn.  Remember, it’s not about your personal will power or efforts, but the decision and willingness to rely on others for help when necessary, to seek wisdom when yours runs out.  This is where you can save time by avoiding mistakes because you learned from someone else’s experience.

Do the tasks.  Start small.  Maybe you're putting off some task you really don't like to do, and it's bReadingacking up the whole process.  Maybe avoiding it has become a habit.  Life is a process of constant changes.  Some bad habits start out so small we don't see them coming.  But we repeat little actions until we wake up with a full blown bad habit.  Going with the flow is a bad habit in the making.  You’ll just live with the leftovers.  And ultimately, a life filled with the pain of regret.  You can reverse that starting now, with small changes of a positive nature, repeated until you succeed.

Sometimes the tasks are clouded by fear.   And fear can father procrastination in a heartbeat.  Instead, view the situation as an opportunity to overcome that fear.  Tap into your potential – it’s really been there all along.  Just choose to have faith!  Fear and faith cannot co-exist!  A tiny bit of faith can send a big fear running!  Try it, you’ll like it.

Repeat the process as often as needed, and you’ll have the benefits.

Answer these questionsIf you’re serious about overcoming procrastination, take a few minutes to write out the answers to these questions.  Then decide to take some small step (consistently) to reach your target.   (It’s okay to go faster and take bigger steps.)   As Zig Ziglar says, "See you at the top!"

  • What are you procrastinating about?
  • What needs to be done?
  • What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
  • What’s stopping you from doing any of the things you just wrote down?
  • What would it take to accomplish them?

Do it today.  Now.  It's a start :-)  Become the Winner!
